The mayor is a representative of the municipality and its highest executive body. The mayor's office is a public office. He is elected by the inhabitants of the village in direct elections for four years. The performance of the function of mayor ends with the expiration of the term of office and the taking of the oath of a new mayor.

The mayor convenes and leads the meetings of the municipal council, signs their resolutions, represents the municipality in relation to state bodies, natural and legal persons, decides on all matters of municipal administration that are not reserved by law or the statute of the municipality to the municipal council. The mayor is a statutory body in the property and legal relations of the municipality.
